Welcome to Settlebeck School
We are a very small 11-16 comprehensive school, in Sedbergh, serving a wide rural area from Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales, to the town of Kendal and many villages and hamlets in between.
We were judged to be ‘outstanding’ in our recent inspection. This reflects the high academic standards our students achieve, the excellent specialist teaching but also the individual knowledge we have of each of our students and the support and care that we can provide as a result.
Our class sizes are small, all students are known to each other and to all the staff and everyone looks after each other.
All this makes Settlebeck School is an excellent place to learn, both in and out of the classroom and our students achieve more than they, and sometimes their parents, ever thought possible.
Everyone matters at Settlebeck and everyone counts. All students, not just the favoured few, have chance to take part in a very wide range of events and activities, broadening their horizons and developing self-confidence.
Settlebeck students are very much valued at 16, when they move on to sixth-form study, college or employment, since they are pleasant, capable, well-educated and confident young people, well prepared to take the next steps in their educational journey.
We are very proud of our unique school and would be very happy to show you around it on a normal working day. Please contact school if you would like to come and see us in action.
