Settlebeck School, Long Lane, Sedbergh, Cumbria, LA10 5AL
At the heart of our school is our determination to treat every student as an individual with their own needs, talents and strengths. Your child will feel safe, secure and valued. As a small school, our students benefit from very high levels of individual attention from staff. We pride ourselves on knowing all our students well and this enhances their learning and achievement.
The form tutor has daily contact with students and is the student’s first point of contact. The form tutor is there to help students with any personal problems and to monitor students’ progress, recognise success and, should the need arise, intervene at the earliest opportunity to get the student back on track.
Progress Leaders also have a close oversight of students’ well-being and academic progress as well as supporting excellent standards of behaviour in order to enable all students to learn and feel safe and confident. They seek to establish and maintain a close link with parents. We believe that a strong partnership between parents and school is an essential element of a young person’s ability to flourish. We also have good links with outside agencies, including Connexions and Young Cumbria, so that extra support can be offered to parents and young people when required. In addition parents receive a formal report on their child’s progress three times a year.
Including all children with all types of needs and strengths is at the core of Settlebeck’s values. All students leave Settlebeck with a genuine understanding of other people’s differences which enriches their lives and the lives of others.
